An informal, intimate, community conversation where we gather to talk about whatever is most important to us right now, with the intention of creating more joy, more connection, and less suffering in our relationships, our lives, and our world.
Next (virtual) Salon Conversation: Sunday, January 19th – 5:00pm-7:00pm Eastern (US)
*We practice loving boundaries. Zoom registration is required to attend. To keep things cozy and confidential, Salon doors close very promptly 5 minutes after the hour.
Nurturing a culture of rich, authentic, meaningful conversations is one of my wildest dreams—one that is, by definition, impossible to realize alone.
In this real-time, face-to-face, fiercely compassionate online conversation we share with each other the things that are astounding us, challenging us to grow, vexing us, and showing us ourselves. We also share our collective courage, wisdom, strength, and humor. We ask for what we need. We offer what we have. We ask hard questions, we get honest, we vent, we confront complexity and paradox, and we don’t have all the answers. Some of us sip wine (or gin or bourbon or tea). Some of us start as strangers. We leave as family. We love each other and grow each other up and fill each other’s cups.
This experiment is new and evolving and we’re creating it together. So far, these are some things people like about Inquisitive Human Salon:
“I like that it was casual and open. There was no pressure. …a roomy, amazing conversation.” —Lena West
“A Sunday afternoon spent at James-Oliva Chu Hillman’s Inquisitive salon among folks I love, and beautiful new faces to fall in love with. It’s a community of radical love, courage, care, challenge and so much more. As I heard James say this afternoon, “room for all of us, room for each of us.” I have a full and grateful heart. ” —Shyloh K. McGill
“The way in which everyone communicated in an honest, loving way.” —Nancy Howe
“The openness and non-judgement of everyone who participates. The space [we] create nurtures, empowers and inspires.” —Michelle Robinson
