Love Letter to Coaches (No. 4) – On Power

The personal is political.

If we want to help people “take back their power,” we first have to know where power lives, and it isn’t just hiding out in a handful of “self-limiting beliefs.”

Guiding clients to examine their beliefs exclusively through the lens of their own personal stories—without also questioning the greater contexts, power dynamics, relational and social constructs and contracts, and systems of oppression/kyriarchy—is not coaching, it’s gaslighting.

Question *everything*
